new orleans

last weekend, I went to new orleans with my dad and my brothers. it was a good time. and as usual, I got some photographs. I couldn't sleep very well the first night, so I decided to get up before sunrise and grab a few photos of an empty new orleans. some of them turned out pretty cool.

I love new orleans.

When it comes to photography, NOLA is target rich.

I enjoyed your pictures.

I love the picture of the old run down building that says "you are beautiful". I love all your photos. I also don't understand why the murphy boys always have to leave out the murphy girls (like me).

These are great. What is the building in the first two shots?

kari - cool. I wasn't sure about that one.

anon - I love new orleans. I may end up writing more about why I love new orleans so much. it is a beautiful, haunted place. and you are right, a wonderful place for photos.

katie - thanks. yeah that you are beautiful building really caught me eye. I think it might make a really cool print. not sure why we leave you out either. but also, we only do this sort of things about twice every decade.

patrick - it's that church right in the heart of jackson's square. I can't remember what it's called. maybe the anon from new orleans can fill us in.

Those are wonderful! I love them all!!! Good job!! We went there with Jared when I was pregnant with Nate... we had a wonderful time too. Did you go to that famous cafe where they sell those yummy doughnuts?

(I deleted my prior post b/c I had a typo)

Brian,

I just got this from a chilean friend. There is a volcano that is in eruption and there was a storm last night. A photographer made some pics that are pretty cool.

New Orleans is my favorite 'city that I don't want to live in'. I was there this past weekend (btw-did you go to Jazz Fest last weekend?) and I just love it there. Brings back good memories of childhood and college. It will always be like home to me. Thanks for the great pictures. Have you signed up for Art Walk?!

brett - thanks man, love that new one of katherine that you recently posted.

mohana - yes, cafe dumond - I think that's how it is spelled - sat there for several hours, I think twice. even though it's touristy, I love that place. thanks for the link to the photos of the volcano in your homeland. very cool.

CJ - yup. reading. in the rain. and not dancing. to stevie wonder. amazing.

elisa - I did not got to jazz fest. lots of reasons for that. and I did not, in spite of CJ's encouragement, submit any of my stuff to artwalk. it's part of a long list of things that keep falling through the cracks with me.

femikneesm - thanks. that one is my favorite. I like the contrast from the muddy mississippi river to the really intense sky.
