april fools day photo walk

I'm hosting another photo walk, downtown birmingham, april 1. starts around 5:30pm. more info here. the purpose of this thing is to meet new people, learn a few things about photography, practice a few things with photography, and of course, walk around the city and take some cool pictures. last time we had a pretty big turnout, most of the people I didn't know at all. I'm expecting an even bigger crowd this time. if you've got a few free hours on tuesday night, come out and join us. we'll be out till about sunset. here's a few of the shots I got last time:

james taylor

saturday found me in atlanta, visiting with james taylor. I met james through big brothers big sisters, and I've known james and his family for about 3 or 4 years now, but since he moved away, I haven't seen him in I think almost a year. he still calls me pretty regularly, and we've kept in touch, so I was looking forward to spending time with him again over the weekend. we had a good time with emily taylor, who helped us climb walls.

james is one of the coolest kids I've ever known. and every time I see him he reminds me how all of the things I think are so important, are actually not very important at all.

I might like this barack obama

I have lots of reasons to not like obama. but then I read this today. it is long, but definitely worth reading. and he is saying things I just don't hear many people say. he is saying things I wish I had said. things I have thought and felt for a while now, but not been able to articulate.

another wedding

I did another wedding last weekend with mark parker. I really enjoy shooting weddings. I was talking with a friend recently, and she was telling me what I have now heard from several people, that they would never want to shoot a wedding. but I love it. I really enjoy trying to capture moments. capturing family dynamics, people's real facial expressions. it's a lot of fun for me. here's a few of my favorites from the recent wedding:

spots. st. patricks day. speakeasy.

as promised, the spots are not playing nearly as many public shows this year.

we've been spending our time on other projects, working on a new ep, and quite frankly, storing up energy so we can kick maximum amounts of ass at our live shows.

make sure you don't miss this one, because we're not playing again until June.

March 17. Speakeasy. 9pm. $5. lots of green. see you there.

even you, carla jean.

porsche advertising

I was recently commissioned by porsche to help update their marketing photos, specifically for their porsche driving school, which happens here in birmingham at the barber motorsports park.

actually that's not true. but porsche, if you are reading this and you like these photos, I'll be happy to trade them for a car. thanks.  actually barber you too.  you both need new photos for your website...

been doing a lot of photography this weekend. I think about 13 hours yesterday - and then I was up till 3am editing. I was out at barber (first time there) in the morning and I had a media pass and I was having fun. apparently they will let you go anywhere you want when you have a media pass...
